Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 April 2025
1. Who We Are
Classbee (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website classbee.app — a directory that helps parents in Hong Kong discover children’s classes, activities, and fun places. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data when you use our website. We are committed to complying with Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (“PDPO”).
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
Newsletter sign-up. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use this solely to send you updates about new classes, featured activities, and Classbee news. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly.
Contact messages. If you reach out to us via WhatsApp, email, or any contact form, we receive whatever information you choose to include in your message (such as your name, phone number, or question). We use this only to respond to your enquiry.
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
Usage analytics. When you browse Classbee, we record anonymous usage events to understand how the site is used and to improve our service. These events include page views, listing impressions (which activity cards you see), search queries you enter, and listing detail views. These records are stored in our own database — we do not sell or share this data with third-party advertising networks.
Device and browser information. Our web server automatically receives standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, and the pages you visit. This is standard for all websites and is used for security monitoring and aggregate analytics.
Cookies and local storage. Classbee uses a small number of cookies and browser local storage for the following purposes:
- Session cookies — used to authenticate administrators who manage listings on the site. These are not set for regular visitors.
- Language preference — we store your preferred display language (English or Chinese) so the site remembers your choice between visits.
- Shortlist — when you save activities to your shortlist, this is stored locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not run retargeting or behavioural advertising of any kind.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the data described above for the following purposes:
- To send you our newsletter (only if you subscribed)
- To respond to your enquiries
- To understand which categories, areas, and activities are most popular so we can improve our listings and coverage
- To monitor site performance, detect errors, and prevent abuse
- To display the site in your preferred language
We do not use your data to build individual user profiles, serve personalised advertisements, or make automated decisions about you.
4. Who We Share Data With
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers who help us operate Classbee:
- Supabase (database hosting) — stores our listings database and newsletter email addresses. Servers are located in Singapore.
- Cloudflare (CDN and image storage) — serves static assets and listing images via Cloudflare R2.
- Vercel (web hosting) — hosts our website and processes web requests.
Each of these providers processes data on our behalf and is contractually required to protect it. We do not share your data with activity providers listed on our site unless you independently choose to contact them (for example, by clicking a WhatsApp link or visiting their website).
5. AI-Assisted Content
Some listing descriptions on Classbee are created or enhanced with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools. We use AI to extract information from provider flyers and to translate or clean up descriptions. The source materials (such as flyer images) may be processed by third-party AI services for the sole purpose of generating listing content. No personal data from Classbee users is sent to these AI services.
6. Data Retention
Newsletter emails are retained until you unsubscribe, at which point we delete your email address.
Analytics data (page views, search queries, impressions) is retained in aggregate form. We do not maintain long-term records linked to individual IP addresses. Server logs containing IP addresses are automatically purged after 90 days.
Contact messages are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve your enquiry, after which they are deleted.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all web traffic, access controls on our database, and secure authentication for administrative access. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Under Hong Kong’s PDPO, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct any inaccurate personal data.
- Unsubscribe — opt out of our newsletter at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 10 below. We will respond to your request within 40 days as required by the PDPO.
9. Children’s Privacy
Classbee is a directory designed for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Our website is intended to be used by adults who are researching activities for their children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
10. Contact Us

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of Classbee after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
